About the BID

About the Downtown Racine BID

Downtown Racine sits right on Lake Michigan, with a harbor, a marina, and a compact grid you can walk in an afternoon. On the right day it feels less like the Midwest and more like somewhere on a coast. The real draw is the people — and the BID is here to keep the district clean, safe, and growing.

What is the BID?

A district serving itself

A Business Improvement District is a defined area where property and business owners work together to fund and manage improvements that benefit the whole downtown.

The Downtown Racine BID is funded by downtown property owners to keep the district clean, safe, and growing, and to make sure every business downtown can get found and get seen. We invest in the streets, promote every merchant equally, and build the connections that turn a collection of businesses into a real community. We're governed by a board of downtown business owners and open by design.

Established 2002

Funded by downtown, directed by its own board

The Downtown Racine Business Improvement District #1 was formed in 2002. It is funded by downtown property owners and directed by its own board. Click the button below to see who serves, how decisions get made, and where the money goes.

Every dollar stays in the district. Property owners fund the work, a volunteer board sets the priorities, and the money goes straight back into the streets, the events, and the marketing that keep downtown worth visiting.
